About the Course
Lloyd Law College in association with National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) & Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) is offering a diploma course on Criminal Trial Skills of Practice & Procedure. This diploma is ideal for beginners in criminal litigation who want to understand the court process in detail as law students. This course will simplify the first one to three years of struggle when any law graduate starts the criminal trial practice on their own or begin to learn under a senior lawyer. Learning fast is a critical factor in moving ahead of your peers, and this course makes that possible. This is a significant opportunity to inculcate the talents of building tremendous practice at the Sessions Court level as well as in the High Court. Once a graduate have the necessary skills to deliver results to the client, the situation can drastically change as there are many cases and only a few skilled lawyers. After this course one can graduate to that level much faster than other law graduates.
Rationale:
Our aim is to groom the learners to enable them to develop, sharpen and enhance the criminal trial practice and procedural skills. It is to simulate real time Trial Courts Procedures, training in criminal practice and procedures and to promote and sustain unified spirit to ensure the development of advocacy finesse.
Learning outcome-career potential after doing this course:
- A fresh law graduate would not require devoting his precious time in learning the practical aspects of criminal litigation. The qualification would enable the beneficiary to be able to start dealing with criminal litigation from day one of his enrollment at Bar.
- Criminal law practitioners usually do not take up jobs, so the ultimate goal is to build their own practice which is time consuming and very hard. So after going through rigorous course one is expected to rapidly increase.
- This diploma provides practical knowledge and know-how to young future lawyers who intend to make a mark in criminal litigation
- It is great refresher course under the guidance of experienced criminal lawyers to set upgrade knowledge of the basics and sharpen important skills.
- The course is not a mere theoretical study but hands on practical lessons where one will have to draft a lot of documents such as petitions, replies/written statements and applications.
- The course is tough and intensive. The participants will not be awarded the diploma unless the complete all the exercises.
- The trainer will focus on the personal attention of each and every participants and each of them will get individual feed back in relation to the exercises assigned.
Duration required for completing the qualification:
It’s one year diploma course wherein these will be lectures scheduled 3 days a week, total 144 hours of learning through online teaching/training classroom sessions, lectures through visual aids- PPTs, notes, texts of different legislations in criminal law topics with reading material and exercises followed by evaluation.

Who can apply?
Any Law graduate/Law student pursuing law from any University/Law College/Law School recognized by the Bar Council of India can apply for this diploma course.
Minimum age: Minimum age of 18 years
Evaluation Criterion:
Assessment will be done by adhering to the guidelines of National Skills Qualification Framework.
- 50% scoring will be considered to be as qualifying marks.
- 70 & above-Distinction
- 60to 69%-First Class
- 50 to 59% Second Class
- Below 50-Fail
