Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships are ‘part-cost’ awards for undergraduate, graduate study, and research in any subject available at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, UK. The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India (OCSI) is located in New Delhi, India and offers scholarships by OCSI.

Eligibility

  • Must be an Indian citizen
  • Need to regularly reside in India
  • Must not have been older than 30 on September 1st of the year they applied for the prize.
  • Must have submitted an application to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford and been accepted to study full-time. Before the scholarship is awarded, candidates must provide documentation of their acceptance and their evidence of moving to Cambridge or Oxford before the money for the award is disbursed.
  • Must be accepted into either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford via the standard admissions process. OCSI is unable to help with this procedure or admit students.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Scholarships are given out based on the candidate's strong academic record, compatibility with the university, demonstration of leadership ability, and dedication to bettering the lives of people, especially those in India.
  • The ability to present a strong case for reading at Cambridge or Oxford for a certain degree is crucial. Candidates for the OCSI scholarships should be very talented academically, having been selected as the most exceptional candidates in a particular year by Cambridge or Oxford departments.
  • The goal of the OCSI scholarship program is to encourage worthy Indian applicants who may not otherwise be able to attend Oxford or Cambridge universities. Through its scholarships, the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India hopes to uplift students who, hopefully, have not had the opportunity to attend Oxbridge. Thus, all else being equal, those who are already enrolled at Oxford or Cambridge or those who are actively participating in study abroad programs would be at a disadvantage.
  • Although graduation from an Indian institution is a must for qualifying, it is also preferred that the candidate have completed their last years of education there. Students who are presently enrolled in international study programs would therefore be severely disadvantaged by the OCSI funding scheme.
  • Applicants who have already committed to receiving full outside funding are not eligible to apply; if they do, they must notify the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India so that the scholarship award(s) can be given to the next highest-ranked applicant.
  • Applicants should also understand the obligations that come with receiving a coveted partial scholarship at one of the top institutions in the world, such as Oxford or Cambridge. It is expected of OCSI Scholars that they would utilize their education at Cambridge or Oxford to lead their fields and contribute to society in ways that best suit them. After finishing their studies at Cambridge or Oxford, OCSI Scholars are expected to return to India within an acceptable time period.
