The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012(POSCO)

In 2012 Legislature passed the law against the protection of children which are facing the problem of Sexual Offences name as (POSO). Before this Act there are certain section of  Indian Penal Code which protected the child sexual abuse but IPC could not effectively due to loopholes in section 375,354,377 like male victim, lack of statutory. Then due these loopholes legislature passed Law against child offences name (POSCO), before this act the Goa Children’s Act 2003. The India is second largest country who come under this sexual offences against the children but according to census the Male victim is more than compared to the female the survey covered different form of children abuse i.e. physical ,sexual, and emotional and the children facing this sexual offence with its family like blood relation ,in the school, institution brought out some shocking facts. This act which protected the children 18 or below the 18 year old child this act was help to how find out the child which is facing the sexual offence and they also told about how to deal with the child which is passes from the sexual offences

This act was divide the sexual offences in four parts like sexual harassment, sexual assault etc. And this Act also defines the punishment against the sexual offence by the legislature they made a specific Act for protection of children after this act each and every accused is caught out and they provide justice to victim.

POCSO is meant to provide justice the most defenseless victims who are helpless to defend themselves. It is very important that the weakest section of the society whether it be due to the vulnerability, age, economic factors or social factor. They need to be protected and also more research needs to be done in this regard to create even more safeguards and this effort is being made by Lloyd Law College through its various Research Cells and the efforts are also being made to educate this vulnerable class that is the children of their legal rights and remedies through the Legal Aid Clinic at Lloyd Law College, Top law colleges in india for 5 years law, where focus on providing Legal education to children is being focused on.
